First 3 Way Friendly of the season was a great afternoon

The first 3 way friendly of the season took place Sunday May 5th between Atherley, County and Mayfield Park at Mayfield.

While we waited for the weather to co-operate, we were all mentally exercised by a quiz. The winners were never determined because the rain cleared and we all hurried out to the green.

The 3 way format means that each club puts out 4 triples. 2 rinks Atherley v County, 2 rinks Atherley v Mayfield Park and 2 rinks County v Mayfield Park.

Because of the late start, we played just 12 ends.

The green played well in the conditions and we stayed dry and relatively warm. Good fun was had and friendships made and renewed.

After the game, we had a lovely spread of sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pie etc, cakes and tea / coffee.

The result of the game is a matter of interpretation... County won because they scored most shots (thanks to a 17 - 1 on one rink against Mayfield Park). Or Atherley won because we won on all 4 of our rinks. Or Mayfield Park won because they were such generous hosts.

Whichever way you look at it, a great afternoon.

The next friendly is a traditional style 6 rink Fours game against Southampton & District BA on June 1st at 2 p.m. Please get your name down for this - we need 24 players.
