A VERY SAD LOSS TO THE TOURNAMENT
The
Tournament Committee was deeply saddened by the loss of Ray Cornwell, our longest
serving Committee Member who passed away on the 4th February 2010, at the age
of 95.
Ray who was also our longest serving Life Member will be fondly remembered and
sadly missed not only by the Committee but by all his friends in the bowling
community in Hampshire and beyond.
ODDFELLOWS BI-CENTENARY 1810 – 2010
2010
is a very exciting year for our sponsors, the Oddfellows as they are celebrating
their 200 year anniversary. We offer our warmest congratulations to all our
friends at the Oddfellows on reaching this milestone and wish them continued
success in the future.
As part of their celebrations a Friendly “Fun” Bowls Match will be held on Sunday
14th March 2010, at the Atherley Bowling Club between the Tournament Committee
and members of the Southampton District of the Oddfellows. This will be followed
by a more formal Dinner & Dance at Fleming Park Bowling Club on Saturday
the 24th July 2010, prior to the commencement of this years Tournament on Monday
26th July 2010.

NEW MEN’S SINGLES PLATE COMPETITION
For the 2010 Tournament the Committee has introduced a new Men’s Singles Plate Competition. This will allow any competitors eliminated from the main Men’s Singles on the Monday or Tuesday of the Tournament the opportunity to continue to play singles further into the week if they so wish.
We are most grateful to our former Tournament Secretary Peter Kemp and his wife Edna for donating “The Kemp Salver” as the Winners Trophy and also to our 2010 Tournament President Michael Barrett for donating “The Barrett Shield” as the Runner-Up Trophy for this new Competition.
